Handcrafted Art that Preserves Nature's Finest Moments

About the Artist

I’m Chris Lee, an artist with a lifelong love for the natural world. I grew up on a farm in Ontario, Canada, where the outdoors was my constant companion. Whether I was wandering the fields, exploring the forests, or spending quiet afternoons by the ponds, nature became my playground and my teacher. My summers at our family cottage were just as formative—there, I found solace in the stillness of the water and the peaceful embrace of the woods, moments that continue to inspire my work today.

My connection to nature deepened further during my five years working at an insectarium, including three years as the director. This experience gave me a unique perspective on the delicate relationships between species and the ecosystems they inhabit. It also allowed me to blend my love of nature with my artistic vision, combining science and art in a way that feels both intuitive and deeply personal.

In my work, I collect and arrange specimens—skulls, insects, and other natural remnants—into thoughtful, immersive displays that capture the beauty of life in all its forms. I use materials like moss, bark, and bones to create pieces that invite the viewer to pause and reflect on the hidden stories of the natural world. Through this art, I explore themes of growth, decay, and the quiet, often overlooked moments in nature.

My goal is simple: to celebrate the fragile beauty of life and create a space where others can reconnect with the natural world, just as I have my whole life. Nature is both constant and ever-changing, and through my work, I hope to preserve the fleeting moments that make it so extraordinary.
